Family law business valuation in Adelaide

Family Law Valuations provides business valuations for separating couples and family lawyers in Adelaide and across South Australia. The practice is based in Sydney and has no premises in South Australia: engagements are run remotely, from the business records and conversations with the owner. The fees are the same in every state and territory: a Settlement Valuation is $2,495 + GST and a Family Law Expert Valuation is $4,495 + GST, both fixed and confirmed in writing before work starts.

How an Adelaide engagement runs

Remotely: a conflict check, a written scope and fixed fee, a document checklist, the analysis, a draft for factual review, then the final report.

Adelaide runs half an hour behind Sydney all year, because both cities observe daylight saving. The published phone hours, 8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday (Sydney time), are 7.30am to 5.30pm in Adelaide.

Which court hears an Adelaide family law matter

Family law property matters in South Australia are heard by the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia, which sits in Adelaide. The Family Law Act 1975 is Commonwealth legislation, so the framework for a property settlement is the same in South Australia as in the eastern states.

A Settlement Valuation is prepared for negotiation and mediation. A Family Law Expert Valuation is prepared for proceedings. If a Settlement Valuation is obtained first and proceedings follow, the settlement fee is credited when you upgrade within three months; the fees page sets out how.

Getting the documents together

In a remote engagement the timetable is set by the documents, not the distance. The draft Settlement Valuation is delivered within 5 to 7 business days after payment and receipt of all required information, so the sooner the records are complete, the sooner the clock starts. Documents needed for a family law business valuation lists what a valuer asks for and what to do when something is missing or held by the other party.
